Mordillo versus the city of Zhuzhou

Last week I saw this picture in the newspaper. It's in the city of Zhuzhou in China and it made me think immediately at some of Mordillo's cartoons with skyscraper and roof top scenery.

I looked in this three Mordillo books, and I found

some nice cartoons:

Mordillo, many many  years ago
Burj al Arab, some time ago...

Burj al Arab, some time ago...

The conclusion is that the ideas in the cartoons of Mordillo weren't as crazy as we might think. What to think about urban farming? On the internet I've found many pictures of agriculture on roof tops and rooftop farms.
Yes,  Mordillo was predicting the future in his cartoons.

Football cartoon books

To be honest: I know almost nothing about football (soccer)  players, their clubs  and the competitions they play in. I know the rules of the game and it's only when the World Cup is played that I become an addict of the game.

Football cartoons are interesting me more. I saw on TV the UEFA Europa League is on now and I thought it's the moment to present some  football cartoon books you might enjoy.

In 'le foot' (football) by Mordillo, the legendary football player Pelé writes in the introduction: "...today I realise that football can be a source of humor..." The cartoons below prove this statement.

Mordillo Collector's Item from Iran

One of the cartoon books I cherish a lot is this Mordillo book, published by the House of Cartoon in Tehran (Iran, 2000?). Although I do not understand Persian, I find the combination between the cartoons and the beautiful Persian print testifies of an exceptional beauty.

Let's have a look:

Mordillo

I was in the ECC library yesterday. I added some Mordillo books to the Mordillo book list on Picasa.
One book is the "Mordillo Jubiläumsbuch" (1997). It's a limited edition. Only 1000 books were printed and 700 were signed by Mordillo himself. The ECC library owns nr. 51.

The Guillermo Mordillo Books - part 1

I am a fan of Guillermo Mordillo and I know many of our readers are Mordillo fans too. There are Mordillo books published in many countries: from Germany and France to Iran, China etc.
But how do all those funny books look like? What was the first real Mordillo book ever published? Where to find Mordillo books? In a series of articles to come, I hope, with your help, to make a list of all the Mordillo cartoonbooks ever published. I'll put a picture of the books online and make cartoonbook files of them if I have the information I need.

How to help? Mail a cover picture of your Mordillo book(s) to ecc.cartoonbooks@gmail.com if the book isn't mentioned in our Mordillo Book List

Click to see a list of all Mordillo book pictures we have for the moment. Later on I'll sort the book pictures by publication date.

See Mordillo Cartoonbook files for detailed information about the Mordillo books.
