I'm fond of the cartoons of Yrrah (Harry Lammertink). I recently found 8 of his books on Marktplaats.nl and could buy all for a very nice price.

This is his first book: Yrrahtioneel, published in 1958 (De Arbeiderspers, Amsterdam):

seems to me that the cartoon on the right side is inspired by Magritte...

Humor in medicine

Humor in de geneeskunde (humor in medicine) by Eduard H. Hermans (Uitg. Het Wereldvenster, Baarn, Holland, Dutch, 2x 154 pages) consists of 2 books. The first part was published in 1961, the second in 1962.
It's a collection of cartoons about all aspects of medicine. The books starts with an essay about humor in general, followed by an essay about humor in medicine. There are chapters with cartoons about doctors at work, man as patients, woman as patients, odd cases, history of medicine, childbirth, pregnancy, dentist, doctors in uniform, doctors and money, the end of life, etc.
The author gives feedback and commentary on all the cartoons in the book, something that's quite rare in cartoon book land. The cartoons are all numbered.

Through the ages with sam

In the latest Scherper edition, I mentioned one of these books.

I didn't find out more than "funny sex joke comic book” in my web search about this little books by Woody Gelman, Sy Goodstadt and Mel Poretz.

“Chéri , il faut repeindre le plafond”, Jeux de Pieds, is a French edition from 1966. The orginal English edition “Sam, the ceiling needs painting” is from 1964.

In 1968, some additional adventures of “Sam, the ceiling needs painting” were published...

Almanach Vermot 1966

Here are some more pictures of the French Almanach Vermot, 1966 edition I wrote about in the latest issue of Scherper, the cartoon magazine of the ECC.

The Almanach is published since 1886. In 1966 it was illustrated with more than 500 cartoons from cartoonists Bosc, Mose, Raynaud, Barberousse, Gilles, Laplace, Tim, Jicka, ... and many others.
